Abstract

In the article, the researcher examined the work of the Soviet and Russian artist Vladimir Pavlovich Nekliudov (1938–2021), a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts and a renowned muralist. The author studied Nekliudov’s creative legacy, particularly his easel works from the 1990s and 2000s, imbued with the artist’s reflections on the difficult times he lived through. The researcher focused on the evolution of female images, which became a metaphor for a broken destiny and allowed the artist to express his subconscious desire for dominance, unrealized in his work. This most fruitful period of his life coincided with the collapse of the USSR and the loss of a major commission, which prevented Neklyudov’s monumental art plans from being realized.
