Abstract

An author’s interpretation of their own biography as a canvas for building a work of art is a widespread practice and is taking on new forms. The researcher turns to the history and to modern forms of using the term ‘autofiction’ and studies various methods of constructing autofiction statements in literature and fine art as a practice for building his own artistic statement. The text of the study contains two parts. The first one analyzes the variability of forms of autofiction statement in various types of art (literature, cinema, theater, photography), examines the historical background of the phenomenon and the connection of this genre with psychoanalysis. The connection is in the psychotherapeutic possibilities of auto-fixation in overcoming personal/collective traumas, both during the direct creation of an artistic work, and during its subsequent representation and reception by the viewer/reader. In the second part of the article, the author analyzes her own creative practice: the result of the study of the history and modern development of the theory of autofiction was the creation of a personal documentary photographic autofiction project. This part of the text records the stages of work on the project and the additional theoretical results that the researcher comes to in the process of introspection of the creative process.
